London-based AI software company Omnea has launched the Omnea Future Founders Fund, providing $250,000 in seed funding to employees who have completed five years of service and want to start their own companies. The initiative, announced this week, aims to support employees’ entrepreneurial ambitions openly rather than having them hide their plans from leadership, according to Omnea founder and CEO Ben Freeman.

The fund was created in partnership with European angel fund Firedrop. Eligible employees pitch their startup concepts in a single 30-minute meeting to Freeman and Firedrop founder Pietro Invernizzi. Investment decisions are made within 24 hours. Beyond capital, accepted founders receive office space, operational support, and ongoing coaching from Omnea, fostering a supportive environment for new ventures.

Omnea’s approach challenges traditional venture models by encouraging transparency and trust between employees and leadership. Freeman highlighted that founders prefer to seek advice and funding from people they know and trust, rather than outside investors. This initiative could influence how companies support intrapreneurship and employee-led startups, differentiating Omnea in the AI and software sector.

The Omnea Future Founders Fund is open to employees after five years of service, with the first round of pitches scheduled for July. This program reflects a growing trend of companies providing internal resources to nurture entrepreneurial talent within their workforce.
