JioStar launches AI-generated micro-drama and ChatGPT-powered search on JioHotstar

JioStar introduced its first fully AI-generated micro-drama titled Game On: 4,000 Crore Empire on July 17, 2026, during Reliance Industries Limited's Q1 FY2026-27 earnings call.

JioStar introduced its first fully AI-generated micro-drama titled Game On: 4,000 Crore Empire on July 17, 2026, during Reliance Industries Limited's Q1 FY2026-27 earnings call. The micro-drama is hosted on Tadka, JioStar's short-form content platform, and was created using JAMS, the company’s in-house AI content studio. Additionally, JioStar revamped JioHotstar’s search feature to enable voice-based queries powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Ishan Chatterjee, CEO of Sports at JioStar, explained that JAMS generates video content using artificial intelligence instead of traditional filming methods. The micro-drama consists of 60-90 second vertical video episodes optimized for mobile viewing, a format popularized in China and now expanding in India. The upgraded JioHotstar search allows users to speak their content requests in plain language, including Indic languages, with those voice queries routed to ChatGPT for processing, enhancing user experience.

The launch of AI-generated micro-content and ChatGPT integration reflects JioStar’s strategy to scale high-quality short-form content efficiently and improve content discovery on its streaming platform. This move aligns with broader trends in the Indian digital entertainment market, where AI-driven content creation and voice interfaces are gaining traction. JioStar’s approach positions it alongside other streaming services adopting AI to enhance engagement and accessibility.

JioStar disclosed these AI initiatives during RIL’s Q1 FY2026-27 earnings call on July 17, 2026, signaling the company’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence in content production and user interaction on its platforms.
