Canada’s La Caisse has invested approximately ₹12,100 crore to acquire a 24% stake in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, India’s largest independent telecom tower platform, the companies announced on Wednesday. The investment positions La Caisse alongside Brookfield, which remains the largest investor in Altius, as well as other shareholders including GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI).

The deal was finalized through a direct equity investment in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, which owns and operates over 258,000 telecom towers and sites across India. Brookfield continues to hold the majority stake, while La Caisse’s entry marks a significant capital infusion into the platform. The transaction was confirmed in a joint statement by the involved parties, highlighting the strategic partnership between Canadian and global investors in India’s telecom infrastructure sector.

India is the world’s second-largest telecommunications market, with rapid growth driven by increasing mobile and internet penetration. Altius Telecom, backed by Brookfield, has established itself as a key player in this expanding market by providing critical infrastructure to telecom operators. The investment by La Caisse reflects growing international interest in India’s telecom infrastructure space, which has seen several large-scale deals in recent years as investors seek stable, long-term assets.

Altius Telecom’s extensive portfolio of more than 258,000 towers underscores its dominant position in India’s telecom infrastructure. The ₹12,100 crore investment by La Caisse was announced on September 2, 2026, marking one of the largest foreign investments in the sector this year.
