CtrlS DataCentres has secured ₹250 crore (approximately $26.1 million) in equity funding, with Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath contributing ₹200 crore and Sreeram Reddy Vanga, cofounder of adtech firm Kofluence, investing the remaining amount, according to inc42.com. The Hyderabad-based data center operator plans to use the capital to expand its infrastructure amid rising demand driven by AI and cloud workloads.
Founded in 2007 by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS operates 19 data center campuses across nine major Indian hubs including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bengaluru. The company is also testing international waters by establishing a 150 MW hyperscale data center campus in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor of Digital. CtrlS currently manages a total compute capacity of 370 MW and has 4.4 GW of projects underway, including a green data center developed in partnership with Flipkart in Hyderabad.
The funding round comes amid a surge in demand for data center capacity in India, driven by the growth of AI, cloud computing, and digital workloads. Earlier this year, CtrlS received commitments of up to ₹7,000 crore from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board at a valuation of $4.8 billion. The company’s expansion plans align with the broader trend of hyperscale data centers scaling up to support enterprise and hyperscaler clients in India and abroad.
CtrlS is actively pursuing international expansion into the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with its Thailand campus marking a significant step. The company’s ongoing projects and recent funding highlight its strategy to capitalize on the accelerating AI data center market, positioning it as a key player in India’s digital infrastructure landscape.
