Gudea has secured $7 million in seed funding to enhance its platform that predicts which online narratives will go viral, the Minneapolis-based startup told Crunchbase News. The round was co-led by Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures, bringing Gudea’s total funding to approximately $15 million since its 2023 inception, according to co-founder and CEO Keith Presley.
The startup’s technology maps how information travels across more than 600 social media platforms, analyzing patterns to forecast the spread, peak, and decline of narratives. Presley described Gudea as a “storm tracker for the internet,” comparing its predictive approach to meteorology. The company’s revenue has grown 357% year over year, serving clients in AI, telecommunications, entertainment, and retail sectors, though it declined to name specific customers due to the sensitive nature of its work.
Gudea’s approach goes beyond traditional tracking of mentions and hashtags by focusing on the movement of information among people, groups, and platforms. This capability is particularly relevant amid rising concerns about disinformation and brand reputation management. The startup evolved from the George Washington Initiative, a nonprofit that applied intelligence tactics to monitor information flows, positioning Gudea within a growing market for advanced narrative analytics.
The company’s latest funding round underscores investor confidence in its predictive analytics model. With $15 million raised since 2023, Gudea is positioned to expand its technology and client base. The startup’s revenue growth and backing from Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures highlight its traction in the competitive social media analytics space.
