House Speaker Mike Johnson raised $30 million in the third quarter, bringing his total fundraising haul this cycle to $156 million as Republicans aim to retain their House majority, Axios reported. This marks the highest amount raised by a Republican speaker or leader at this stage of an election cycle, underscoring Johnson's growing influence in GOP fundraising efforts.
Johnson's team disclosed that he has distributed over $91 million to Republican members, candidates, committees, and state parties during this cycle. This includes $46 million transferred to the National Republican Congressional Committee, setting a pace for the largest cycle transfer by a Republican speaker or leader. Additionally, $21.5 million went directly to GOP incumbents and $7 million to challengers, reflecting a strategic allocation of resources ahead of the midterms.
Since becoming speaker in October 2023, Johnson's fundraising operation has amassed more than $220 million for House Republicans, reversing initial concerns about his ability to match former Speaker Kevin McCarthy's fundraising prowess. Johnson has actively campaigned across the country, visiting over 40 districts in 22 states to support Republican candidates in the critical weeks before Election Day.
Johnson emphasized the campaign's focus on directing unprecedented resources to key districts that will determine control of the House. His fundraising totals and strategic distribution efforts highlight the Republican Party's commitment to maintaining its majority in the upcoming midterm elections, according to Axios.
