MobiKwik cofounder and CFO Upasana Taku acquired 1.07 lakh shares of the fintech company through open-market transactions in September 2026, spending a total of ₹2.1 crore, according to a filing with the exchanges. This purchase increased her stake in MobiKwik to 10.24% from 10.11%.
Taku bought the shares in two tranches—55,000 and 52,000 shares. Since the company’s IPO in December 2024, she has purchased a total of 2,94,177 equity shares, including 1,87,177 shares acquired in December 2025. The recent share purchases come amid volatility in MobiKwik’s stock price, which has risen 26.6% over the past six months but remains down 15.38% year-to-date, per inc42.com.
MobiKwik’s stock gains are linked to the reintroduction of the merchant discount rate on high-value UPI payments and the company’s improved financial performance. The fintech reported a consolidated net profit of ₹7.6 crore in Q1 FY27, reversing a net loss of ₹41.9 crore in the same quarter last year. Operating revenue increased marginally to ₹281.5 crore from ₹271.4 crore in Q1 FY26. The company also received in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India in May to operate as a payment aggregator-physical license.
Upasana Taku’s increased shareholding signals confidence in MobiKwik’s growth prospects, supported by recent regulatory approvals and financial turnaround. The company’s next quarterly earnings report, expected in late October, will provide further insight into its performance trajectory.
