SoftBank sold 4.50 crore shares in eyewear retailer Lenskart for ₹2,887.9 crore in a block deal, according to BSE data. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹641.75 each, representing a 3% discount to the stock’s last closing price. This marks SoftBank’s second major stake sale in Lenskart since the company’s listing, following a June sale of 5.65 crore shares worth ₹2,873.3 crore.
The shares were sold through SoftBank Vision Fund II Lightbulb (Cayman) Ltd. Despite the recent sales, SoftBank retained a 9.79% stake in Lenskart, holding 17.14 crore shares as of June 30, 2026. European financial firm Societe Generale was the largest buyer, acquiring 1.1 crore shares. Other notable buyers included Goldman Sachs, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, HSBC Mutual Fund, and investors linked to Vanguard, among others.
Lenskart’s stock has shown a strong upward trend since its November listing, surging more than 69% from its initial price of ₹390. The recent block deals by SoftBank come amid this bullish momentum, reflecting investor confidence in the eyewear retailer. The involvement of major financial institutions like Societe Generale and Goldman Sachs highlights sustained institutional interest in Lenskart’s growth prospects.
The latest block deal follows SoftBank’s earlier partial exit in June, cumulatively raising nearly ₹5,761 crore from stake sales in Lenskart this year. The company’s shares closed at ₹662.25 on the day of the transaction, underscoring the premium valuation Lenskart has achieved since its market debut.
