Global asset manager State Street Investment Management has finalized its ₹580 crore strategic investment in Groww’s mutual fund arm, Groww AMC, after securing all regulatory approvals, according to inc42.com. The deal grants State Street a 23% economic interest and 4.85% voting rights in Groww AMC. The investment was first announced in January this year.

The ₹580 crore investment comprised ₹381 crore for purchasing existing shares and ₹198 crore for fresh shares issued by Groww AMC. This transaction values Groww AMC at approximately ₹2,500 crore. Post-deal, Groww AMC will no longer be a wholly owned subsidiary of Billionbrains Garage Ventures, Groww’s parent company, but will remain its subsidiary. The companies plan to enhance collaboration in product development, distribution, and global market access.

The partnership will allow Groww AMC to leverage State Street’s expertise in indexing, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), systematic investing, macroeconomic analysis, and portfolio construction. This is expected to support Groww AMC’s expansion in passive investment offerings and help it evolve into a broader asset management platform. The deal reflects growing interest from global asset managers in India’s mutual fund sector.

Following the completion of the transaction, State Street holds a 23% economic stake and 4.85% voting rights in Groww AMC, with voting rights capped below 5%, as confirmed by the companies in their announcement.
