L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore has secured a contract worth over ₹15,000 crore ($6.2 billion) from ADNOC Offshore to develop the Umm Shaif Gas Cap, an offshore gas facility in Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made on August 4, 2026, marking a significant order for L&T in the energy sector.
The project will be executed through a consortium led by LTEH Offshore, L&T's subsidiary, which will handle the major share of the work. The development involves multiple offshore facilities aimed at enhancing gas production capacity. L&T stated that the consortium arrangement will leverage its expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) to deliver the project.
This contract underscores L&T's expanding footprint in the Middle East's hydrocarbon sector, a region critical for global energy supply. The deal is among the largest for L&T in offshore gas development, reflecting the company's capabilities in managing complex, large-scale energy infrastructure projects. ADNOC's selection of L&T highlights the Indian firm's competitive positioning against global EPC players.
The Umm Shaif Gas Cap project is expected to advance Abu Dhabi's offshore gas production capabilities significantly. L&T's role as lead partner in the consortium positions it at the forefront of this strategic energy development, with project execution timelines and further contract details to be disclosed by ADNOC and L&T in upcoming reports.
