Adani proposes nearly doubling Mangaluru airport user fees by FY31

Adani Airport has proposed to nearly double the user development fees (UDF) at Mangaluru airport by fiscal year 2031 (FY31) to support a ₹4,200-crore investment plan, according to livemint.com.

Adani Airport has proposed to nearly double the user development fees (UDF) at Mangaluru airport by fiscal year 2031 (FY31) to support a ₹4,200-crore investment plan, according to livemint.com. The current fees of ₹735 for domestic departures and ₹1,120 for international departures would rise to ₹1,440 and ₹2,210 respectively by March 2031, representing increases of about 96% and 97%. The new charges are subject to regulatory approval and would begin increasing from 1 December 2026.

The proposed fee hikes will be phased, with increases of 20-22% annually over the first three revisions, followed by a 10% rise in the final phase through FY31. Domestic arrival fees are set to increase from ₹315 to ₹620, while international arrival fees would rise from ₹480 to ₹940 by FY31. These fees are included in airfares and collected by airlines at booking, then remitted to the airport operator. The regulator has yet to finalize the fee structure.

Mangaluru airport already has some of the highest user fees in the country, with domestic departure fees having surged 390% from ₹150 in 2022 to ₹735 in FY26. The proposed increases reflect Adani Airport's plan to fund significant infrastructure investments totaling ₹4,200 crore. This follows a broader trend of airport operators raising fees to finance modernization and expansion projects amid growing passenger traffic across India.

The initial fee revision is scheduled to take effect on 1 December 2026, pending regulatory approval. The phased increases will continue through FY31, with the final user development fees reaching ₹1,440 for domestic departures and ₹2,210 for international departures by March 2031, as per the proposal reported by livemint.com.
