Infosys CEO Salil Parekh said AI services, which accounted for over 8% of the company’s revenue last quarter, could represent almost half of its work within two to three years. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026, Parekh highlighted the rapid growth of AI-related offerings, including AI agents, coding, and technology modernization for clients.
Parekh explained that AI services are growing at a double-digit rate sequentially and could reach 20-30% of Infosys’ work within a few quarters if the current pace continues. He described this growth as a response to huge demand for AI capabilities. Infosys hired 20,000 college graduates last year and plans to recruit another 20,000 this financial year, training them in AI to support client deployments and change management.
The expansion of AI services at Infosys reflects broader trends in India’s IT sector, where automation and AI are reshaping workforce dynamics. About 80,000 of Infosys’ 300,000 employees are already engaged in coding tools and internal AI projects. Parekh said the rise of AI is positive news for Infosys and the Indian tech services industry, underscoring the sector’s adaptation to new technologies and client needs.
Infosys’ AI-driven transformation is part of a wider shift in India’s workforce, where a study found 197 million workers face automation risk while 46 million may benefit from AI adoption, according to livemint.com. The company’s next quarterly earnings report will provide further insights into the impact of AI services on its business.
