Jaipur startup Aignosis expands AI autism screener to 125 schools

Jaipur-based startup Aignosis has expanded its AI-assisted autism screening tool from over 20 government primary health centres in Rajasthan to approximately 125 schools.

Jaipur-based startup Aignosis has expanded its AI-assisted autism screening tool from over 20 government primary health centres in Rajasthan to approximately 125 schools. The company aims to complete 100,000 screenings by the end of the 2026-27 academic year. Aignosis secured Rs 4 crore in seed funding led by Antler and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, according to BioSpectrum India on October 1.

The AI tool uses a laptop webcam to detect signs associated with autism and has already completed more than 8,000 screenings. Aignosis has completed the CDSCO regulatory process, received Class B certification, and clinically validated its product. The company will collaborate with the Apollo SHINE Foundation to facilitate the school-based screening programme. However, details about the clinical validation process and error rates have not been publicly disclosed, according to medianama.com.

The expansion into schools marks a shift from individual clinical consultations to institutional screening, raising concerns about how informed parental consent is obtained. While consent is typically explicit in clinical settings where parents initiate the process, it is unclear how parents are informed when screenings occur in schools or government health centres. This raises questions about transparency and ethical considerations in large-scale autism screening programmes.

Aignosis’s AI screener is currently operational in more than 20 government health centres and is set to reach 125 schools across Rajasthan. The company plans to complete 100,000 screenings by the end of the 2026-27 academic year, marking a significant scale-up in early autism detection efforts in the region.
