Jio Platforms Q1 profit rises 9% to ₹7,764 crore on digital services growth

Jio Platforms reported a consolidated profit after tax of ₹7,764 crore in the first quarter of FY27, marking a 9.2% year-on-year increase.

Jio Platforms reported a consolidated profit after tax of ₹7,764 crore in the first quarter of FY27, marking a 9.2% year-on-year increase. Operating revenue grew 11.8% YoY to ₹39,173 crore, while gross revenue rose 12% to ₹45,961 crore. The company’s EBITDA expanded 15.1% YoY to ₹20,865 crore, with an EBITDA margin increase to 53.3%, according to inc42.com.

The growth was supported by strong subscriber additions and margin expansion, despite a 2.2% sequential decline in net profit from ₹7,935 crore in the previous quarter. Jio Platforms’ parent, Reliance Industries, attributed the higher finance costs to the capitalisation of 5G assets. Digital services revenue increased 20% YoY, driven by content, cloud computing, IoT, and managed services, outpacing the connectivity business.

Jio Platforms ended the quarter with over 533 million subscribers, including approximately 285 million 5G users. Fixed broadband connections reached 28.6 million, with 14 million homes connected via JioAirFiber. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd added 8.9 million subscribers during the quarter, raising its customer base to 533.3 million. Average revenue per user rose to ₹215.6 per month from ₹214 in the previous quarter.

Data traffic increased 26.9% YoY during the quarter, underscoring the growing demand for digital services. The company’s next earnings update is expected in October, when investors will assess whether the momentum in subscriber growth and digital revenue continues.
