Salesforce will purchase $300 million worth of AI inference tokens from Anthropic during calendar 2026, chief executive Marc Benioff disclosed on Tuesday according to economictimes.indiatimes.com.
The commitment is part of Salesforce’s expanding partnership with the San Francisco–based large-language-model provider. Benioff said the tokens will power generative-AI features inside the company’s Customer 360 platform, including Einstein Copilot and forthcoming autonomous agents. The two firms already share several joint customers, and the new volume agreement is expected to be formalised before the end of Salesforce’s current fiscal year.
For Anthropic, the deal ranks among the largest single-year token contracts struck by a non-hyperscaler, eclipsing the $100 million Snowflake–Anthropic arrangement announced in 2024. It also deepens competition with OpenAI and Google Cloud, both of which court Salesforce’s enterprise base. The injection of predictable revenue gives Anthropic fresh capital to train its next-generation Claude models and expand data-centre capacity in the United States, where export curbs have constrained Chinese rivals.
Salesforce plans to roll out the first Anthropic-powered capabilities to select pilot customers in the fourth quarter of 2025, with general availability slated for Dreamforce 2026. Observers will watch whether the company meets that timeline and whether the promised token volume triggers additional co-development agreements or a deeper equity stake in Anthropic.
