Donald Trump’s childhood home in Queens, New York, has sold for $1.93 million after an extensive renovation, according to fortune.com. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom Tudor-style residence was purchased by developer Tommy Lin last year for $835,000. Lin invested an additional $500,000 over eight months to transform the property from a mold-ridden, neglected state into a modern home.
The home, located in the affluent Jamaica Estates neighborhood where Trump lived until age four, had been vacant and in disrepair for years. Lin’s renovation included upgrades such as a chef’s kitchen, herringbone wood floors, and spa-like bathrooms, the New York Post reported. The sale appeared on real estate websites in September after a buyer contracted for the property in July. The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed.
The property has changed hands multiple times in recent years. It sold for $2.14 million shortly after Trump became president in 2017, per Zillow data. It was briefly listed for rent on Airbnb by an entity named Trump Birth Home LLC, featuring Trump memorabilia. The home was listed for sale again in 2019 at $2.9 million but remained unsold until Lin’s purchase last year. The renovation reversed years of water damage and neglect.
The sale price of $1.93 million marks a significant recovery from the home’s condition before renovation. The property’s history and recent upgrades have renewed interest in this notable Queens estate built by Trump’s father, Fred Trump, in 1940, according to fortune.com.
