Andhra Pradesh’s Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department has approved four data centre projects with a combined investment of Rs 2.83 lakh crore, according to medianama.com. These projects cover approximately 1,488 acres and are expected to generate over 4,050 jobs. The approvals were granted through three government orders issued in August and one amended order from July under the state’s Data Center Policy 4.0 (2024–29).
The four data centres will collectively have a power capacity of around 3,498 MW, which represents nearly 23.3% of Andhra Pradesh’s peak electricity demand. Two of these projects are specifically AI-focused: the Google-Reliance Industries giga-scale AI data centre in Vizianagaram and the AM AI Factory’s 512 MW green AI data centre in Amanam villa, Visakhapatnam. The scale of the land allocation is equivalent to about 23 Narendra Modi Stadiums, the world’s largest stadium by capacity.
The proposed investment of Rs 2.83 lakh crore is more than 85% of Andhra Pradesh’s total annual state budget of Rs 3.32 lakh crore for the current financial year. The data centre capacity and investment signify a major push towards digital infrastructure and AI capabilities in the state. This move aligns Andhra Pradesh with other Indian states competing to attract large-scale data centre investments and strengthen their technology ecosystems.
The government orders approving these projects were issued in August 2026, marking a significant step in Andhra Pradesh’s strategy to become a hub for data centres and AI infrastructure. The combined power capacity of 3,498 MW and the creation of over 4,050 jobs underscore the scale and economic impact of these developments.
