AvenuesAI, formerly Infibeam Avenues, launched PayCentral, an agentic payments platform that enables AI agents to complete transactions autonomously without human initiation, the company announced during its Q1 FY27 earnings call. The platform aims to reduce friction between intent, commerce, and payment by allowing AI agents to transact directly with each other. This launch comes amid developments in India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ecosystem exploring AI agent payment capabilities, according to medianama.com.

Vishal Mehta, chairman and managing director of AvenuesAI, explained that PayCentral was developed through the company’s subsidiary PhroneticAI. The platform is designed to 'uberize payments' by removing the need for manual transaction initiation while maintaining the roles of merchants and consumers. The company is also leveraging AI to improve merchant onboarding processes. Early traction for PayCentral has been reported, with faster growth observed in international markets, medianama.com reported.

The introduction of PayCentral aligns with ongoing efforts by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to enable AI agents to make payments via UPI. NPCI is working on a Unified Agent Protocol, which could allow AI agents to have delegated UPI handles and separate agent PINs, facilitating secure and autonomous transactions. This development positions AvenuesAI among the early adopters in the emerging space of agentic payments, which could reshape transaction dynamics in digital payments.

The company’s Q1 FY27 earnings call provided the first public details on PayCentral’s capabilities and strategic direction. NPCI’s work on agentic payment protocols is ongoing, with no formal launch date announced. Meanwhile, AvenuesAI continues to expand PayCentral’s reach, particularly targeting international markets where adoption rates are currently higher, medianama.com stated.
