London-based startup Tilt has created a livestream marketplace where sellers auction products in real time, generating up to $260,000 in monthly sales, according to the company. The platform enables buyers to interact directly with sellers during fast-paced auctions of items like sneakers, designer clothing, and electronics. This model has empowered Gen Z entrepreneurs, with some scaling from zero to six-figure monthly revenues within months, cofounder Neil Shah told Fortune.
Tilt’s app replaces static product listings with live auctions, allowing viewers to ask questions and bid competitively. Shah highlighted a 17-year-old seller who started from his grandmother’s bedroom and quickly reached over $100,000 in monthly sales. Another seller, Maddie, who is deaf and has fibromyalgia, turned the platform into a full-time business, surpassing $100,000 in June by selling niche streetwear brands. The company said these success stories are not isolated, reflecting a growing trend among young sellers.
The rise of Tilt aligns with a broader shift in social commerce, where entertainment and shopping increasingly merge. This approach appeals to Gen Z’s preference for interactive and engaging buying experiences. The platform’s global reach allows sellers to auction nearly any product live, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs to scale quickly. Tilt’s model contrasts with traditional e-commerce by emphasizing real-time interaction and competition among buyers.
Tilt’s livestream auctions have attracted a diverse seller base, with some generating substantial monthly revenues. The company’s cofounders shared these figures during an interview with Fortune on August 1, illustrating the platform’s rapid growth and impact on young entrepreneurs worldwide.
