Promom raises ₹30 crore from Fireside Ventures to expand baby care portfolio

Promom, a Bengaluru-based maternal and baby care startup, has raised ₹30 crore ($3.1 million) in a funding round led by Fireside Ventures.

Promom, a Bengaluru-based maternal and baby care startup, has raised ₹30 crore ($3.1 million) in a funding round led by Fireside Ventures. Founded in 2023 by Anavi Kalia, Manas Tripathi, and Aditya Srivastava, the startup plans to use the fresh capital to expand its product portfolio and widen distribution across India, according to inc42.com.

Before this external funding, Promom operated as a bootstrapped direct-to-consumer business, with growth primarily driven by customer referrals and recommendations. The company focuses on developing products that address feeding-related challenges faced by new mothers. The funding round led by Fireside Ventures marks Promom’s first significant external capital infusion, enabling it to scale operations and product offerings.

The baby care and parenting ecosystem in India has seen increased investor interest recently. For instance, Swara Baby Products, backed by FirstCry parent BrainBees, filed draft papers for a ₹1,000 crore IPO earlier this month. BrainBees reported a 34% year-on-year growth in operating revenue to ₹8,342 crore while narrowing net losses by 25%. Other notable fundraises include R for Rabbit’s $27 million Series B led by Filter Capital and LiLLBUD’s ₹6 crore seed round led by Zeropearl VC, highlighting the sector’s growing momentum.

Promom’s ₹30 crore fundraise from Fireside Ventures will support expanding its mom and baby care product range and enhancing its pan-India distribution network, as stated by the company. This capital injection arrives amid a broader surge in investments and growth within India’s baby care market, underscoring the segment’s rising prominence.
