Skyroot Aerospace is in talks to raise $300 million in two tranches at different valuations as it prepares to scale rocket production following its maiden orbital mission, according to economictimes.indiatimes.com. The Hyderabad-based spacetech unicorn aims to secure $150 million from Indian family offices at a valuation between $2.3 billion and $2.5 billion, and another $150 million from global investors at a valuation of up to $3 billion.
The startup is offering stakes to domestic family offices at a lower price to maintain a larger share in Indian hands. The global tranche includes potential investors such as General Catalyst, General Atlantic, and Silicon Valley venture fund Benchmark. This round would nearly triple Skyroot’s valuation from $1.1 billion in May, when it raised $60 million. To date, Skyroot has raised about $160 million in total funding.
This funding effort comes as Skyroot seeks to capitalize on growing interest in India’s spacetech sector, following its successful maiden orbital launch. The company’s valuation surge reflects increased investor confidence in Indian startups operating in advanced technology domains. The involvement of prominent global funds like General Atlantic and Benchmark highlights the sector’s expanding appeal beyond domestic markets.
Skyroot’s next funding round is expected to close in tranches, with the domestic tranche aimed at Indian family offices and the global tranche targeting international venture funds. The company’s founders, Naga Bharath Daka and Pawan Kumar Chandana, are leading the talks to secure these investments, which will support scaling rocket production capabilities.
