JioHotstar expanded its streaming services to the UK, Canada, and Singapore, offering 160,000 hours of content in over 12 languages. The launch includes web series, TV shows, films, and regional programming, targeting the South Asian diaspora and broader audiences in these countries, the company announced today, September 1.
The streaming platform plans to add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content annually to its library in these new markets. JioHotstar introduced region-specific pricing with two subscription tiers: quarterly and annual. In the UK, the quarterly plan costs £19.99 (₹2,562) and the annual plan £69.99 (₹8,972). In Canada, the quarterly and annual plans are CAD 19.99 (₹1,365) and CAD 49.99 (₹3,415), respectively. Singapore’s pricing starts at SGD 29.98 (₹2,235) for three months and SGD 69.98 (₹5,217) for a year, according to inc42.com.
JioHotstar’s move marks a significant expansion beyond its India-focused market, aiming to serve the global South Asian diaspora and wider audiences interested in diverse cultural content. The company highlighted the growing demand for stories beyond local cultures, positioning itself to capture a broader, underserved global audience. This expansion aligns with trends where streaming platforms increasingly target diasporic communities and multicultural viewers.
The rollout of JioHotstar’s services in these three countries represents a strategic push into international markets, with the company now offering tailored content and pricing to attract subscribers. The service’s launch date is September 1, 2026, setting a benchmark for future expansions into other global regions.
