Amazon India reported a 47.9% increase in losses for fiscal year 2026, with total losses reaching ₹2,792.8 crore, up from ₹1,888.8 crore the previous year. Despite the widening losses, the company’s operating revenue across its business verticals rose to ₹39,144.3 crore, inching closer to the ₹40,000 crore mark, according to inc42.com.
The company’s India operations are divided into four entities: Amazon Seller Services, Amazon Wholesale India Services, Amazon Retail India, and Amazon Pay. Amazon Seller Services, which includes third-party seller services, subscriptions, advertising, logistics, and marketing support, saw its operating revenue increase 15.1% year-on-year to ₹34,966.8 crore, while its net loss narrowed by 4.5% to ₹389.9 crore. Amazon Retail India’s revenue grew 49.5% to ₹3,065.1 crore, though its net loss widened during the fiscal year, inc42.com reported.
Amazon India’s financial results highlight the challenges of scaling e-commerce and fintech operations in the country amid intense competition and investment in growth. The company’s strategic move to amalgamate its logistics subsidiary, Amazon Transport Services, with Amazon Seller Services under the Companies Act aims to streamline operations. The revenue growth across verticals contrasts with the rising losses, reflecting the high costs associated with expanding market share and infrastructure in India’s competitive digital market.
The amalgamation of Amazon Transport Services into Amazon Seller Services was approved under Sections 230–232 of the Companies Act, marking a significant operational restructuring. Amazon India’s next financial update will be closely watched to assess whether the company can narrow losses while sustaining revenue growth in this key market, inc42.com noted.
