BigBasket's parent company, Supermarket Grocery Supplies Pvt Ltd, reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 3,192 crore for the financial year ended March 2026, marking a 59% increase from Rs 2,007 crore in FY25, according to filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Despite the widening losses, the company's revenue from operations grew over 6% to Rs 10,498 crore in FY26.
The increase in losses coincides with BigBasket's intensified focus on quick commerce through its BBNow platform, which delivers orders within 15-30 minutes. The company fully transitioned to this model by August 2024. BigBasket’s B2C arm, Innovative Retail Concepts Pvt Ltd, which primarily operates BBNow, generated Rs 8,223 crore in revenue, accounting for 78% of the total operating revenue, but its losses rose 66% year-on-year to Rs 3,073 crore in FY26.
BigBasket's pivot to quick commerce places it in direct competition with players like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto, contributing to the surge in losses despite revenue growth. Meanwhile, its B2B segment, serving the HoReCa sector with bulk grocery deliveries, saw a 3% revenue increase to Rs 2,298 crore and managed to marginally reduce losses to Rs 102 crore. The quick commerce shift reflects broader market trends emphasizing faster delivery times in the online grocery sector.
BigBasket’s financial disclosures highlight the challenges of scaling quick commerce profitably. The company’s next financial update, expected with the FY27 results, will provide further insight into whether the quick commerce strategy can stabilize losses while sustaining revenue growth.
