Info Edge’s education platform Shiksha reported a 27.2% year-on-year decline in billings to Rs 20.5 crore in the quarter ended September 2026 (Q2 FY27), according to a regulatory filing on October 8. The drop is attributed to reduced referral traffic from Google, where AI-generated search summaries increasingly answer user queries directly, diverting users from the platform.
The filing explained that Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode have been key factors in reducing Shiksha’s traffic and billings, as these AI-driven features provide direct answers, limiting the need for users to visit content-led platforms. Referral traffic from Google has historically been a major source of user acquisition for Shiksha. The platform is not alone in facing these challenges; Chegg and Penske Media filed a lawsuit against Google last year alleging anti-competitive practices related to AI summaries, though the case was dismissed last month.
While Shiksha faced headwinds, Info Edge’s other verticals showed growth in Q2 FY27. Naukri’s billings rose 12.6% to Rs 613 crore, 99acres increased to Rs 148.3 crore from Rs 122.4 crore, and Jeevansathi’s billings grew 18.4% to Rs 39.7 crore compared to the same quarter last year. These figures highlight the uneven impact of AI-driven search changes across Info Edge’s portfolio.
Info Edge’s regulatory filing on October 8 detailed these results, marking a significant shift in traffic dynamics for content platforms reliant on Google search referrals. The company’s next quarterly earnings report will provide further insights into how it adapts to evolving AI search trends.
