Marvell Technology, a Nasdaq-listed semiconductor company, announced a $250 million investment in India over the next three years to expand its data infrastructure and AI chip development capabilities. The company plans to double its India workforce and expand its presence in Hyderabad, including opening a new wing at its Bengaluru office, according to inc42.com.
Marvell entered the Indian market 20 years ago by establishing its first office in Bengaluru. Since then, its Indian operations have grown to become its second-largest R&D center globally. Navin Bishnoi, Marvell’s India head, said India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence, contributing significantly to the development of infrastructure technologies for hyperscalers and cloud providers. Alongside the investment, Marvell launched the Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM), which has received over 7,000 applications and selected 100 students from top universities.
The investment comes amid global shifts in the semiconductor supply chain driven by geopolitical volatility. Marvell’s expansion in India aligns with broader industry trends where companies are bolstering local R&D and manufacturing capabilities to support AI, cloud, and data infrastructure demands. The move strengthens India’s position as a key player in semiconductor innovation, complementing efforts by other global firms increasing their footprint in the country.
Marvell’s planned $250 million investment and workforce doubling are set to be completed by 2029, reinforcing its commitment to India as a critical hub for semiconductor design and development, as detailed in the inc42.com report.
