Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani announced plans to establish the Indian School of Agriculture in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub. The initiative aims to equip young Indians with skills, technology, and entrepreneurial opportunities to encourage farming as a viable career choice, addressing concerns over uncertain incomes and limited prospects in agriculture.
Speaking at the event attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and state minister Nara Lokesh, Ambani emphasized the need to modernize farming. He highlighted that the school would blend modern agricultural practices with traditional knowledge and technology to create successful futures for youth in their villages. Reliance Industries will manage the institution as part of a broader effort to develop Rayalaseema's agricultural economy.
The Indian School of Agriculture is part of a larger initiative to transform agriculture in the region by focusing on horticulture and integrating advanced technologies. This approach seeks to reverse the trend of young people leaving farming due to income instability and limited opportunities. The horticulture hub and school together aim to make agriculture a respected and attractive profession, aligning with government efforts to boost rural development and sustainable farming practices.
The foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub and the Indian School of Agriculture was laid on Friday in Madanapalle, marking the start of this multi-faceted project to support agriculture in Andhra Pradesh, according to livemint.com.
