Founder Jason Lemkin said the spike was powered by a coordinated content refresh that pushed AI-centric articles, podcasts and event recaps to every channel. Direct traffic nearly tripled, up 160% overall and 184% for first-time visitors, while organic search climbed 42%. Lemkin noted that branded queries now account for the majority of non-paid clicks, signalling that “brand is the moat” in a crowded AI information market.
The numbers land as venture funding for generative-AI startups hit $29 billion globally in the first four months of 2026, PitchBook data shows. Comparable media plays such as The Information’s AI newsletter and a16z’s Future.com have reported subscriber growth above 50%, but none match SaaStr’s triple-digit new-user gains. For B2B SaaS vendors, the traffic surge translates into higher sponsorship CPMs and richer first-party intent data, tightening the feedback loop between content consumption and pipeline generation.
Lemkin told saastr.com the team will double the cadence of AI-focused webinars to weekly through August and launch a paid certification track for go-to-market leaders by Q4.
