Bengaluru has retained its position as India’s leading startup capital, hosting the highest number of corporate headquarters founded or led by entrepreneurs aged 35 and under, according to the Avendus Wealth – Hurun India U35 List 2026. The city is home to 35 such company headquarters, surpassing Mumbai, which ranks second with 28, and Gurugram in third place with 14.
The report by the Hurun Research Institute highlights Bengaluru not only as the top city for young-led company headquarters but also as the primary residence for young business leaders. The city counted 52 resident entrepreneurs on the 180-member list, including notable figures like Razorpay’s Harshil Mathur (35), Bagmane Developers’ Aditya Bagmane (34), and Joyalukkas’ Thomas Mathew (33). Mumbai followed with 30 entrepreneurs, featuring names such as Akash Ambani (34) and Isha Ambani (34) of Reliance.
This ranking underscores Bengaluru’s continued dominance in India’s startup ecosystem, often referred to as the country’s Silicon Valley. The city’s lead over Mumbai and the National Capital Region reflects its strong infrastructure, investor interest, and talent pool that attract young entrepreneurs. Mumbai’s rise to 28 headquarters, up by three from 2025, indicates growing competition, while Gurugram and New Delhi also maintain significant presence in the young entrepreneur landscape.
The Avendus Wealth – Hurun India U35 List 2026 serves as a benchmark for tracking the concentration of young entrepreneurial talent and company leadership across Indian cities. Bengaluru’s position at the top with 35 company headquarters highlights its role as the primary hub for India’s next generation of business leaders.
