Balwaan Krishi raises ₹100 crore to expand farm equipment manufacturing

Agritech startup Balwaan Krishi has raised ₹100 crore (around $10 million) in a Series B funding round led by First Bridge India Growth Fund Private Equity, the company announced.

Agritech startup Balwaan Krishi has raised ₹100 crore (around $10 million) in a Series B funding round led by First Bridge India Growth Fund Private Equity, the company announced. The Jaipur-based startup plans to use the capital to scale up domestic manufacturing, enhance its dealer and service network in southern India, and develop new farm equipment with connected features.

Founded in 2016 by brothers Rohit and Shubham Bajaj, Balwaan Krishi manufactures agricultural machinery tailored to Indian farming conditions. The Series B round included participation from other institutional investors whose names were not disclosed. The startup sells products priced between ₹10,000 and ₹1 lakh through over 800 dealers in northern India and via ecommerce channels. The fresh funding will enable expansion of its distribution and after-sales services in southern India, the company said.

Balwaan Krishi aims to reduce reliance on imported machinery by boosting local manufacturing, which will improve product quality and availability. Its product development pipeline includes power weeders, battery sprayers, and other equipment with IoT-enabled features to monitor machine health and predict maintenance needs. The startup claims its equipment is used by more than 4 lakh farmers, primarily targeting small and marginal farmers who find larger machinery unaffordable or unsuitable.

The company confirmed that a significant portion of the ₹100 crore funding will be allocated to manufacturing in India. This strategic move is expected to strengthen Balwaan Krishi’s position in the domestic agritech market and support its growth ambitions across southern India.
