Kolkata-based menswear and kidswear brand KISAH has secured ₹35.9 crore (about $3.7 million) in a Series A funding round led by Fireside Ventures, valuing the startup at around ₹211 crore (about $22 million). The capital raised will primarily be used to expand KISAH's retail network and enhance its supply chain, warehousing, technology, and backend infrastructure, the company said in an interview with inc42.com.
Founded in 2018 by Yash Sarawagi, KISAH initially operated as a marketplace-led brand before launching its own direct-to-consumer platform and establishing a presence in physical stores. Sarawagi’s sister, Yashvi Lathsarya, and Saurav Kothari later joined as cofounders. The brand sells through online marketplaces such as Myntra, Amazon, AJIO, and Nyka, offering a mix of contemporary ethnic and occasion wear, including kurtas, sherwanis, bomber jackets, flared trousers, and sneakers, targeting wedding guests and consumers beyond the traditional groom market.
KISAH’s funding round follows an earlier ₹10 crore angel investment from figures including Sagar Daryani, founder of Wow! Momo, and Apoor Salarpuria of the Salarpuria Group. The brand positions itself at the premium end of online ethnic menswear, a segment that has seen growing consumer interest. The company aims to develop retail playbooks with the new capital, with plans for retail expansion to be supported by franchisees, according to cofounder Sarawagi.
KISAH’s next steps include scaling its retail footprint across India while investing in backend capabilities to support growth. The company’s focus on omnichannel presence and premium ethnic wear aligns with rising demand in the menswear segment, as it continues to build on early positive market signals, Sarawagi told inc42.com.
