Ola Electric introduced its new S1Z electric scooter featuring the indigenously developed Bharat Cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology. The S1Z comes in two variants: a 3.1 kWh battery priced at ₹79,999 and a 5.1 kWh battery priced at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh model are scheduled to start in December 2026, with ranges of up to 179 km and 301 km respectively on the IDC cycle, according to inc42.com.
The Bharat Cell LFP battery technology was developed at Ola Electric’s Battery Innovation Centre and is manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory. The company highlighted that in-house cell manufacturing has helped reduce battery costs, enabling the introduction of LFP technology at more affordable price points. Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal emphasized that the S1Z breaks the industry norm of affordable scooters being stripped-down products, offering enhanced range and technology instead, as stated in an exchange filing and a post on X.
