Ola Electric unveiled three new battery energy storage systems (BESSs) aimed at expanding its energy solutions business. The product lineup includes the second generation of its residential system Ola Shakti, an industry-focused Shakti Rack, and Mahashakti for utility-scale energy storage. The announcement was made yesterday, with deliveries for the residential devices expected to start soon, according to inc42.com.
The new products leverage Ola Electric’s integrated capabilities across battery cells, packs, and energy storage systems. Ola Shakti Gen 2, designed for households, comes in two configurations: a 4.6 kWh battery with 3 kW power and a 9.2 kWh battery with 6 kW power, both offering 1.5 hours of backup on full load. Powered by the company’s in-house 4680 Bharat lithium-ion cell, the 3 kW variant is priced at ₹99,000 and the 6 kW at nearly ₹1.75 lakh, inc42.com reported.
Battery energy storage systems are critical for managing electricity supply and demand, especially with increasing adoption of renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
